About this Job
Overview
YFP seeks a Lead Planner to manage current & new clients. The Lead Planner is the senior member of a financial planning team, working under the direction of the Director of Financial Planning. Other details about this position include:
- W-2 position
- Hours: 40-45 hours per week
- Direct Reports: 1 - 2 (changes as the number of clients increases)
- Reports to: Director of Financial Planning
- Location: Virtual
- Start Date: TBD
Responsibilities
Your core task is to build & nurture the client relationship by leading the financial planning process and to delegate the following work to your support team, as necessary:
- Gather, analyze & evaluate client information
- Prepare client presentations: 1) Create & model different possible financial scenarios and 2) Develop & communicate recommendations
- Answer client questions & concerns
- Follow up & assist clients with plan implementation
- Monitor the plan & make changes over time
Other tasks:
- Lead & develop your support team including a Financial Planner and Client Service Associate
- Document client meetings & update CRM, as necessary
- Act as a liaison to internal & external stakeholders on behalf of the client (i.e., YFP Tax, a sister company of YFP, handles our client tax planning and preparation needs, so effective communication with the tax team is vital)
- Make proactive use of technology to streamline client interactions
- Support the firm’s initiatives, assist with any company-wide projects or activities & attend functions, as needed
- Understand key company metrics & help drive results
Requirements:
- Candidates must have the CFP® designation
- 3+ years of experience giving comprehensive financial planning advice
- EA and CSLP designations preferred
- Comfortable leading a small team
- Willingness to flex schedule 1 day/week to accommodate clients in different time zones
- Willingness to continuously learn
- Ability to be productive in a remote working environment with minimal supervision, manage competing demands & work with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Comfortable working in a company with a flat organizational structure transitioning from a startup phase to a scale-up phase
- Exceptional organizational, communication & presentation skills
- Comfortable with technology: Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides); iOS; Right Capital; WealthBox CRM
Why is this lead planner role different?
- No required sales or marketing!! You’ll engage in very little marketing (prospecting) OR sales activities, which typically takes ⅓ or more of a planner’s time. As a result (and as stated previously), your core task will be to serve the clients' best interests, providing outstanding financial advice.
